An Auction, An Art Show & A Little Baby Boy

Spring 2013


The past few months were spent painting away, teaching a class for developmentally challenged adults at the Kelowna Art Gallery and getting ready for baby. This spring will be busy as well with a few shows coming up and getting ready for my next solo exhibition at the Port Alberni Art Gallery June 15th. 

Kicking off the Spring season is the Appetite for Art Fundraiser and Art Auction at the Kelowna Art Gallery this Saturday, March 23rd. 40 artists were selected to have a piece of artwork and I am honored to have my art hanging next to some very talented regional and national artists. 

April 19th I'll be one of three artists showcased at the Streaming Cafe Artist Spotlight at 6:00pm. There will be music, food, drinks abd of course lots of colourful art. Please see below for more information.

My artwork is also on display and available at M Gallery Book in Penticton and ArtFirst Gallery in Revelstoke!
Well, there is some big news folks. Last Tuesday, March 12th at 3:59am our little baby boy Jack was born!!!!!! Early, he was supposed to arrive around April 1st. We stayed in the hospital until Friday, luckily we got the private room at KGH and are now happily at home recovering while getting to know each other. Joni, our 3 year old is loving her little brother and adjusting to not being the only child anymore......

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I just wanted to write a quick thank you to all of you that have supported me throughout 2012 and the years before. This has been a remarkable journey so far and the exhibitions, opportunities and people I have met this year have really enabled me to follow this dream of mine. So THANK YOU and I look forward to seeing you and creating some more happy art in 2013. - Leanne Spanza

2012 in Review

2012 was just an inspiring, amazing and busy year. 2012 started off with the fabulous news that Therapy Vineyards had selected my painting 'Okanagan Hills' to be on their Artist Series Riesling Kerner wine! I spent most of my time in between work and family in my studio working on my collection for my first solo exhibition at the Gibsons Public Art Gallery which took place in April. The biggest highlight of 2012 had to be the opening reception where our friends and family made the trip from Vancouver, the Island, the Okanagan and the biggest surprise visit from my dear friend Morgan and her husband from Boston. Late spring we had the launch of Therapy's wine and I had my art displayed in their wine shop all season. I was also asked to be represented by two galleries! M Gallery in Penticton and ArtFirst Gallery in Revelstoke. I was happily painting away all summer, also working on some commissions, art for the touring Art in the Park exhibition and the upcoming ArtWalk. Late summer we bought a home in Okanagan Centre (Lake Country) and moved in September 15th. We also found out we are expecting our second baby due April 1st 2013! The fall was spent settling into our new home and I was offered a few teaching opportunities which I really have enjoyed. I also presented at Bo.tegga's 10-10-10 event and participated in my first Christmas Art Market.
